A Reluctant Blogger?
Updated: Jan 8, 2018
In August 2017, I finally finished and self published my first novel; EVAC Ignition.
Hello, I'm the indie author of EVAC Ignition. It's one thing to write a book, it's quite another getting people to read it. Yes, that statement appears everywhere and there are many good pieces out there telling you how to use the web to extend your reach and promote your brand. The problem is, I decided to self publish because the world of PR scares the bejesus out of me and naively hoped I could generate a modest career under the radar.
I'm sure I am not alone; there must be many writers out there that are more of a wallflower, after all, it's easier to observe from the shadows. My thinking is, all that skulking in the background contributes to the generation of complex opinions, that are better left unsaid in public places -much safer allowing them to fill the pages under the anonymity of a narrator.
That said, I'm going to reach out to you, the readers and writers, with thoughts about the scary process of birthing a story. For that is how it feels - it has taken true labour to get to this point, I don't want to fail the infant with shoddy parenting.
So hopefully this process will make me braver - don't worry there will not be any pictures of my breakfast but it will be nice to share some thoughts behind the story and hear some of your own. I am looking forward to connecting to like minded souls that quietly ponder an imagined life or equally, to those of you who do best, navigating the real one.
